Cornelis P. Venema revisits the important doctrine of predestination to re-familiarize the church with truths about God's sovereignty in salvation. He does not merely re-visit old ground but also engages a host of historic and contemporary challenges to the doctrine. Cornelius Venema's The Promise of the Future, published in 2000 by Banner of Truth, has been hailed as the most important major Reformed study in biblical eschatology since Anthony Hoekema's The Bible and the Future (published in 1972). It is not coincidental, I am sure, that Venema is a former student of Hoekema.

2000-11-01 Cornelius P. Venema received a BA from Dordt College in Iowa in 1975, a BD from Calvin Theological Seminary in Michigan in 1978, and his Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1985. He served as the pastor of churches in California and Illinois, and then went to Mid-America Reformed Seminary in Indiana, where he now serves as president and professor of doctrinal studies.
